Discover the traditional art of quillwork – creating embroidered patterns out of porcupine quills, often used by Native Americans to deco-rate clothing and accessories. Find out how to obtain, sort, pluck and dye porcupine quills. Learn three different quillwork techniques: sawtooth, bi-color sawtooth and single thread line. The techniques will be practiced on a piece of brain-tanned buckskin that can be turned into a bracelet or attached to a larger item. Bring scissors, tweezers and a chair. The workshop is $65. The haunted trail hayride highlights the spooktacular event as brave souls are guided along a creepy trail featuring dramatic and spooky scenes and a few surprises sure to generate screans of fun and fright. The second night also includes pumpkin painting, face painting, storytelling, costume contests, music and a community-based Trunk-or-Treat where children can enjoy an old-fashioned Halloween atmosphere in a safe environment.
