NOV. 3 – Elizabethton – Workshop: Step-by-Step Oil Painting at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site with instructor Kay Braswell. Discover oil on canvas through wet-on-wet painting techniques. Beginners are welcome. Learn the Bob Ross techniques for painting or come to improve the skills you already possess. The workshop is $50 and includes supplies. Class limit: 15. Minimum class size: 6. NOV. 6 – Elizabethton – Workshop: Chair-side Catch-all Basket at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site. This basket shape is known as a half-market. It has a wooden handle on one end. It is great for sitting by a chair, against a wall or on a step. It has a filled bottom and variegated reed decorates the plain weave sides. Kits for each basket will be furnished by the in-structor. Bring garden shears or kitchen shears, a kitchen towel, 12 clothespins or small spring clips and a pencil. The work-shop is $30. Class limit: 15. NOV. 6 – Elizabethton – Workshop: Primitive Pottery II – Pit Firing at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site. During this second of this two-part class, participants will fire their pottery in an earthen pit with natural materials. Participants do not have to take the first class to attend this sesson. They may bring unfired pottery and experiment with primitive pit-firing techniques. Register no later than one week prior to the class.
